Latest Community Meeting - 6/26/08 - Project Wide

SEPTA Community/Government Relations held a Summer Shutdown Update Community Meeting for the project area on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Memorial Gospel Crusades Church, 6224 Market Street.  During this meeting the audience was able to get information and ask questions about:

  • the construction activities scheduled to take place during summer outages;
  • the closing of 63rd Street Station on June 13, 2008 for about one-year;
  • and the closing of 63rd & Market Street intersection.

SEPTA’s distribution team distributed flyers throughout the community within a 10-block radius of 63rd and Market Streets a week prior to the meeting. Community residents, faith leaders and institutions were mailed postcards announcing the meeting.  Elected Officials received personalized letters from F. M. Jones.

Of the 174 attendees, 64 turned in evaluation forms and almost each attendee took additional information to distribute to neighbors.  Each participant was also given a $5 Shopping Zone card to use in local stores and businesses that participate in the 2008 Shopping Zone Campaign.
